DirecteBooks.com - Making Reading Easy

Why are we here?

In 2008, I received a shiny new eBook reader as a present from my Wife. Apart from gaining her major brownie points, it re-ignited my interest in all thing books and eBooks. However, when I tried to source new eBooks for my device, I ran into a brick wall.

 Because of where I lived (in sunny Ireland), I couldn’t buy many of the books I wanted (Crazy, right?). What I could buy was expensive, listed on websites that were difficult to navigate and in prices that were in a different currency or strangely misleading, with rebates, discount, clubs and membership fees.

So I began thinking that maybe I could help people like me – and so was born DirecteBooks.com. This site is still based on the same principles that motivated me in the first place:

• A customers-first policy with great customer service. As well as our live help facility, we  guarantee to respond within 24 hours. We don’t think that’s too much to ask.
• A wide selection of eBooks and formats
• All eBooks available to buy anywhere in the world – no geographic restrictions - (This would be nice, but in order to give a larger selection of titles to customers, we have decided to offer titles that are geographically-restricted. We dont like it and believe that the market will change in the next 18mths, but for now we have to go this route.)
• An easy to navigate website
• No rebates, no gimmicks, just clear, competitive pricing.
• Handy how-to guides and good, useful information.
• The belief that with great customer service, quality eBooks and great pricing, we can hold our own as an independent bookstore against the big fish!
