In order to buy a pdf or ePub eBook online for your shiny new Reader, you need to install Adobe Digital Editions. This is a software that will enable you to download and view pdf and ePub eBooks on your desktop. It also allows for very easy transfer to your Reader.
We have made the installation and use of this software as easy as possible for you. Just follow the 3 steps below and you will be ready to read in no time at all. Please note that you only need to install the software once - eBooks will automatically download to your computer from then on.
How to install:

- Click next
- Choose the folder you wish to install the program to.
- Once the file has downloaded, double click and follow instructions to install.
Step 2: Obtain an Adobe ID
- Digital Editions helps ensure that your eBooks and other digital publications are not "locked" on one computer —they are assigned to you through your Adobe ID. Adobe membership is free and registration only takes a minute.
- If the program does not automatically ask you to create an Adobe ID, click here to begin the process. It only requires some basic information. This then ties any future eBooks to your id and not to your computer, allowing you to use your eBooks on many devices.
Step 3: You're done!

From now on just click on the link from the website to download your eBook. Please note that on many sites you will need to have pop-up's allowed in your browser in order to download the eBook

It will ask you how or where to open it - just select Digital Editions the first time and it should go there automatically from then on.

To transfer a book to your reader, simply plug in your Reader via usb. A Reader icon will appear in the left of your view. Simply click and drag the image of the book you want to the Reader icon and the transfer is complete!
How do I enable content portability?
The first time you run Digital Editions, you are prompted to authorize the application by entering an Adobe ID. If you don't have an Adobe ID, you are provided with a link to get one. Then, when you purchase an item online or borrow one from a library with Digital Editions, the item is automatically "tied" to your Adobe ID, rather than your computer.This way, you are free to move your items to up to six computers and devices that have been authorized with Digital Editions.
What are the requirements to get an Adobe ID?
An Adobe ID is a free and a non-intrusive way of identifying users — you need only provide a name, country, and e-mail address. You can create your Adobe ID when prompted within Digital Editions as you authorizeyour computer, or go directly to the Adobe.com membership site.

How do I send eBooks to my Sony Reader?
Adobe digital editions has in-built support for the SonyReader. Open Adobe Digital Editions and find the book you wish to transfer inthe Library area. Plug in your Sony Reader via usb. A Sony Reader icon will appear in the left of your view. Simply click and drag the book image to the Sony Reader and the transfer is complete!
